Message from the President

Hitoshi Osaka, M.D., Ph.D.
President of the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Child Neurology Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Jichi Medical University
I am deeply honored to serve as the President of the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Child Neurology, which will be held from Thursday, June 4 to Saturday, June 6, 2026. The meeting will take place at Light Cube Utsunomiya and Hotel Mystays Utsunomiya, with a pre-congress seminar scheduled for Wednesday, June 3. This meeting will be held concurrently with the 25th International Symposium on Infantile Seizures (chaired by Professor Kazuhiro Muramatsu).
The theme of this annual meeting is "Shining Next Generation in Diversity: Nurturing the Future of Children."
Child neurology is an extremely broad field that requires a multi-layered understanding of pathology—from the molecular level to the individual. It demands precise neurological examination, functional and morphological evaluation through EEG and MRI, and an understanding of developmental, psychological, and behavioral aspects. We believe it is crucial to stay close to each child's growth and quality of life while collaborating with diverse sectors such as education, government, social welfare, and industry. Furthermore, this is a field of study that is turning fundamental treatments into reality for diseases that were once difficult even to diagnose. I believe that delivering research results to children as quickly as possible and creating an environment where young researchers and physicians can thrive is directly linked to the future of our country. At this meeting, we aim to learn from the cutting edge of related sciences and deepen the exchange of knowledge and practice toward the future so that all children can reach their full potential.
For this annual meeting, we will adopt a hybrid format combining in-person and online participation, aiming to create a forum where participants from Japan and abroad can share knowledge and experience. We will also actively provide opportunities for presentations and networking by young researchers. Our goal is to make this a fruitful meeting that contributes not only to academic advancement but also to personal exchange and the development of the next generation.
I look forward to seeing you all in Utsunomiya during the beautiful season of fresh greenery.
