Course Overview and Objectives
The course provides practical hands-on training in laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery, including cholecystectomy, inguinal hernia repair, gastrectomy, and sigmoidectomy, using realistic dry models, energy devices, and staplers. Each session will include a short lecture on key procedural steps and technical tips, followed by intensive hands-on training.
- To provide the basic knowledge required for clinical applications
- To describe all the basic principles (instruments, materials, equipments) and present the most used basic laparoscopic techniques
- Hands-on training sessions to learn or improve performance of basic technical tasks in laparoscopic surgery such as intra-corporeal suturing and knots tying techniques, two-hands coordination for dissection, safe use of energy in laparoscopy
- To describe results and potential complications of laparoscopic procedures
The morning session, from 8:45 AM to 11:30 AM, will focus mainly on TAPP inguinal hernia repair and laparoscopic cholecystectomy models. During the break between the morning and afternoon sessions, participants will have the opportunity to attend special lectures held as part of the congress. The afternoon session, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, will focus on gastrectomy and colorectal resection models, with adjustments made according to participants’ preferences and progress.
This hands-on seminar is organized in collaboration with IRCAD Taiwan, and registration will be handled through the IRCAD Taiwan website.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Practice essential laparoscopic skills, including exposure, dissection, cutting, suturing, and reconstruction, using realistic dry models.
- Identify important technical tips and potential pitfalls in laparoscopic procedures
- Develop practical skills and decision-making abilities for safer and more effective laparoscopic surgery.
