We are pleased to invite you to the 18th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR 2021) which will be held in conjunction with the Japan Radiological Congress (JRC 2021) including the 80th Annual Meeting of the Japan Radiological Society (JRS 2021), in Yokohama, Japan. We ensure that the scientific meetings and lectures will be significant, informative, and invaluable for all members of the JRS and the Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOSR).

The establishment of the AOSR began in 1969 in a meeting during the International Congress of Radiology (ICR) in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting was called “The First Meeting of Asian and Oceanian Regional Radiologists.” Two years into the formation of the society, the AOSR held its first Asian-Oceanian Congress in Melbourne, Australia, in 1971. Year 2021 marks not only the 50th anniversary of the AOSR but also the 80th anniversary of the JRS and it is our pride and honor to be celebrating milestones with the AOSR on its golden jubilee back here in Japan where it was founded.

To date, the AOSR is comprised of 26 member societies. The AOCR 2021 theme “Innovating Radiology, Growing Asia-Oceania” reflects the society growing bigger and stronger, stimulating advances in the development of radiology. We aim to foster active participation from all member societies and expand our alliance all over Asia-Oceania.

The congress will be held in PACIFICO Yokohama North from April 15-18, 2021. Situated by the bay, Yokohama has been the entrance to Japan, welcoming people and products from all over the world, as well as the base of introducing overseas cultures to Japan. After a day of scientific meetings, congress attendees will be able to enjoy major tourist destinations. We look forward to welcoming you and make you experience the warmest hospitality Japan has to offer.
We appreciate your participation and continued support for the AOCR 2021.

Dear Friends

2020 has seen us face very unprecedented pandemic bringing the world to a halt. While we have been busy managing the pandemic and protecting our community we have also had to adjust to a different life with numerous restrictions. Amidst all this we have also been planning on how to manage many events that were scheduled to be held in 2020.

I am delighted to inform you that the 18th AOCR will be held in conjunction with the 80th Annual meeting of the Japan Radiological Society at PACIFIKO, Yokohama Japan commencing on Thursday April 15, 2021. The planning for the meeting has commenced and the Organising Committee have made great progress.

2021 is also the 50th anniversary of AOSR being in existence and many functions are being organised at the Congress to commemorate this great milestone.

The First Asian-Oceania Congress was held in Melbourne in 1971 and the Congress has grown over the decades to be a prime scientific meeting in this region.

We hope that as our life gets back to normal we will see many of our colleagues at the Congress not only to benefit from the extensive scientific program, scientific oral and poster presentations but also an opportunity to meets friends and colleagues in person.

Being the 80th anniversary of JRS and 50th anniversary of AOSR, are some of the many reasons that the team behind the meeting will make this Congress a very special event.

We look forward to welcoming you in the beautiful city of Yokohama in Spring when the cherry blossom add that extra glamour and beauty.

Best wishes

Assoc. Prof. Dinesh Varma
President, AOSR
