History

The history of the EJCVC in a few bullet points:

  1. The European Japanese Cerebrovascular Congress was initiated in Zurich in 2001 by Prof. Y. Sakurai and Prof. Y. Yonekawa, under the name “Swiss-Japanese Joint Conference”.
  2. The 2nd meeting was also organized in Zurich two years later.
  3. The 3rd meeting, under the name of “European-Japanese Joint Conferences for Stroke Surgery”, was held in 2006 in conjunction with the 70th Anniversary of the “Department of Neurosurgery, University Hospital Zurich”.
  4. The 4th meeting was organized in Helsinki, Finland, in 2008, with Prof. J. Hernesniemi as the Congress President.
  5. The 5th European-Japanese Joint Conferences for Stroke Surgery was organized in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 2010, with Prof. H-J. Steiger as the Congress President.
  6. The 6th meeting, under the name “European-Japanese Stroke Surgery conference (EJSSC)”, was organized in 2012 in Utrecht, The Netherlands, with Prof. L. Regli as the Congress President.
  7. The 7th EJSSC was held in Verona, from 25 to 28 June 2014, with Prof. A. Pasqualin as the Congress President.
  8. The 8th meeting was held in Zurich, Switzerland, on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Department of Neurosurgery, in the University Hospital Zurich, under the name “European-Japanese Cerebrovascular Congress” (EJCVC 2016) in June 22 to 25 2016, with Prof. L. Regli as congress president.
  9. The 9th meeting was held in MIlan, Italy, under the name “European-Japanese Cerebrovascular Congress” (EJCVC 2018) in June 22 to 25 2016, with Prof. M. Cenzato as congress president.
  10. The 10th meeting will be held in Kyoto, Japan, under the name “European-Japanese Cerebrovascular Congress” (EJCVC 2022) in November 13 to 16 2022, with Prof. T. Tsukahara as congress president.
