President’s Greeting for the 1st JSRM–ISCT Joint Symposium
It is my great pleasure to announce that the 1st JSRM–ISCT Joint Symposium on iPS Cell-Based Regenerative Medicine will be held in March 2026. This symposium marks the beginning of a five-year initiative, during which annual meetings will be organized alternately in Japan and the United States, fostering continuous dialogue and collaboration between our two countries.
The inaugural symposium will take place immediately following the 25th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine (JSRM). We will dedicate a full day to discussions on the challenges and opportunities of regenerative medicine using iPS cells, from the perspectives of clinical practice, regulation, and industry. The theme of the 25th JSRM Annual Meeting is “Hope、Brighter than Ever.”, a phrase that reminds us to always keep patients at the very center of our endeavors. Indeed, the development of regenerative medicine must never lose sight of the hopes and needs of patients.
In this joint symposium, we will bring together researchers, clinicians, regulatory authorities, and industry leaders to reflect on a vital question: What forms of regulation, development pathways, healthcare systems can truly benefit all stakeholders? Furthermore, we will ask ourselves what concrete steps are needed to move closer to these ideals. By integrating perspectives from translational research, clinical studies, regulation, and business, this symposium will provide a uniquely comprehensive platform for discussion—one that cannot be found elsewhere. I am confident that it will be a deeply enriching and inspiring meeting for all participants.
The symposium will be held in Kobe, a city that in March will be adorned with the blossoms of spring. We warmly invite you to join us in this timely and important meeting, and to share in the vibrant exchange of ideas that will help shape the future of regenerative medicine.
We look forward to your active participation.
