Welcome message

Shigeki YAMAGUCHI, M.D., Ph.D.
President,
The 80th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Coloproctology
(Department of Surgery, Institute of Gastroenterology, Tokyo Women’s Medical University)

We are pleased to announce that the 80th Annual Congress of the Japan Society of Coloproctology, a prestigious and long-standing event, will be held from Friday, November 14 to Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba. For the first time in the history of this congress, we will be holding English-language sessions throughout the two days. Additionally, we have planned many video sessions with a focus on surgical and endoscopic techniques. We are working diligently to ensure that this will be a meaningful scientific meeting for participants from overseas.

The theme of this year’s congress is "Cornerstone and Connection for Colorectal Diseases." This congress has been built upon the "Cornerstone" laid by our predecessors. In the treatment of colorectal cancer, we have moved from an era of radical surgery, where resection was the only option, to a period where organ preservation, and minimally invasive treatments like ESD and laparoscopic surgery have become mainstream. At this congress, we hope to consider what should be changed and what should remain the same. The second theme, "Connection," encompasses the practical aspects of overseas clinical practice, as well as numerous clinical trial results. By connecting with overseas surgeons, participants will have the opportunity to upgrade their own clinical practice and contribute to future treatment.

All of our staff are eagerly looking forward to welcoming international participants.
