I am pleased and honored to invite you to the 13th Scientific Meeting of the Asian Australasian Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (AASSFN 2023). AASSFN 2023 is scheduled to be held at Osaka International Convention Center from April 28 to 29, 2023.
Functional neurosurgery is a steadily growing field, with recent advances in implantable devices, neuroimaging and electrophysiological technology, and focused ultrasounds. In addition, developments in digital technology and AI have been transforming the field of functional neurosurgery at a fast pace. It is important to keep up with these developments, otherwise we will fall behind.
Over the past several years, the COVID-19 pandemic has severely limited daily, clinical, and academic activities, causing many scientific meetings to be rescheduled. Although in-person interactions have been unfortunately limited during that time, developments in functional neurosurgery have not halted. We are now moving into the new era after the outbreak of COVID-19. Functional neurosurgery needs to keep up with this transformation. Therefore, through AASSFN2023, we would like to actively encourage the continued exchange between neurosurgeons and researchers in the Asia-Australasia region with the aim of improving functional neurosurgery in the realms of clinical practice, research, and education.
Osaka is the second largest city in Japan. It is located in the center and has excellent international and domestic access from Kansai International Airport (KIX), with direct flights to many Asian and Oceanian cities. Osaka also offers sightseeing opportunities such as the popular Osaka Castle, Kaiyukan (one of the world’s largest aquariums), Universal Studios Japan, and cruises on Osaka Bay. Also known as a “foodie” town, Osaka offers a wide variety of gourmet and street foods, as well as convenient and popular shopping centers and entertainment facilities. We invite you to join AASSFN 2023 to discuss and advance functional neurosurgery and enjoy Osaka.
