It is a great honor to announce that the 70th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand (JSSH) will be held on April 22\u201323, 2027, at the Congr\u00e8s Convention Center in Umekita, Osaka.
\nSince its establishment in 1957, the JSSH has been a driving force in advancing academic research and clinical practice in hand surgery in Japan. It is a privilege for the University of Osaka Hand Surgery Group to host this landmark 70th anniversary meeting, and we are deeply honored by this opportunity.<\/p>\n

Coincidentally, the University of Osaka Hand Surgery Group also shares a history of approximately 70 years, mirroring the journey of the JSSH. Over these seven decades, we have dedicated ourselves to various fields, including congenital anomalies, brachial plexus injuries, rheumatoid hand, sports-related upper limb disorders, arthroplasty, and more recently, three-dimensional kinematic analysis. Hosting this meeting for the first time in our group’s history is deeply meaningful, and we are acutely aware of the significant responsibility it entails. We are committed to honoring this historical legacy by organizing an intellectually stimulating and fruitful meeting.<\/p>\n

The theme for the 70th meeting is “Hand Surgery as Art and Science.”
\nHand surgery possesses a distinct “Art” aspect\u2014requiring exquisite techniques to manage delicate anatomical structures at the millimeter level, while pursuing not only functional recovery but also aesthetic beauty. Simultaneously, it is a field that benefits immensely from rapidly advancing “Science,” incorporating computer-assisted surgery, regenerative medicine, robotics, and AI-driven clinical support.<\/p>\n

I firmly believe that the true “cutting edge” of hand surgery lies in the sophisticated fusion of the ultimate “Art” refined by our predecessors and the “Science” that opens new frontiers. Through this meeting, we aim to re-examine the current state of hand surgery from both perspectives\u2014Art and Science\u2014and share a vision for its future with all attendees.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to provide a forum not only for in-depth discussion among experienced specialists but also to offer younger surgeons\u2014the leaders of the next generation\u2014an opportunity to experience the profound fascination of hand surgery and renew their passion for clinical practice.
\nThe venue, Osaka’s Umekita district, will be celebrating the grand opening of “GRAND GREEN OSAKA” around the time of our meeting. This innovative urban development seamlessly integrates a verdant urban park with a cutting-edge innovation hub, symbolizing a new era for the city. It is a profound pleasure to welcome colleagues from around the world to this historically transformative location for face-to-face dialogue and collaboration. Furthermore, with the APFSSH (Asian-Pacific Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand) scheduled for May 2027 in Ilsan, Korea\u2014just the following month\u2014we are preparing a program with an international perspective, positioning this meeting as a hub connecting Asia and the world.<\/p>\n

We look forward to welcoming you to Osaka during the beautiful spring season. With your warm support, we are committed to making this 70th meeting a meaningful contribution to the continued advancement of hand surgery.<\/p>\n
