Chairman, 60th Annual Congress of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons
Professor,Department Of Pediatric Surgery
Osaka University Graduate School Of Medicine

I am pleased to announce that I have been appointed President of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons and will hold the 60th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons at the Osaka International Convention Center on June 1-3, 2023. The 1st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgery was held in June 1964 by Dr. Osamu Wakabayashi, President of Nihon University. The record shows that there were 1,041 members at that time and a total of 1019 members attended the meeting. This shows the passion of everyone involved in the establishment of this society. It is a great honor for me to be in charge of the 60th Annual Meeting, which will mark a major milestone in the history of this society, and which is filled with the thoughts of our predecessors. This will be the seventh meeting held at Osaka University, following the 8th meeting by Takashi Ueda, the 15th meeting by Hisao Manabe, the 24th meeting by Eizo Okamoto, the 30th meeting by Yasuaki Naito, the 33rd meeting by Akiya Okada, and the 46th meeting by Masahiro Fukuzawa.

The theme of the conference is “All is Well! In Japanese, it means “All is Well! I think that’s a good thing. We hope that everyone will support the new challenges of the patients and young medical professionals who are the future of our society. In addition, as a new attempt at this general meeting, we set up a one-day session for multi-professional collaboration. We welcome the participation of people from various occupations related to pediatric surgery. We would appreciate it if you could widely encourage them within your institutions.

The primary purpose of the academic meeting is, of course, for members to present their academic achievements and exchange opinions without any quibbles. And after the discussion, I believe that another important role entrusted to our society is to greatly deepen friendships beyond the borders of regions and ages. We are now just over a year away from the conference, and we are working hard to make it an enjoyable event that will attract many people to come to Osaka. Thank you in advance for your support.
