(a) Joint session with the Japanese Society of Pediatric Emergency Medicine
“Pediatric Transportation Medicine: Considering a New Era of Collaboration between Pediatric Surgeons and Pediatric Emergency Doctors” As the declining birthrate accelerates and consolidation progresses, an increase in the number of seriously ill children transported is expected. Therefore, we will set up a joint session with the Japanese Society of Pediatric Emergency Medicine to discuss and consider preparations before transporting critically ill children requiring pediatric surgical treatment, skills during transport, and construction of a transport system.
(b) Malignant Tumor Committee: Achievements and future of pediatric malignant solid tumor registry
In addition to reporting the analysis results by tumor for the last registered cases from 2011 to 2017 as the malignant tumor registration project of the society, we will look back on the past registration projects and consider the future prospects.

7. Symposium

(a) Lifelong managements in Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (International)
This is an educational session with panelists from Europe and the United States to learn about the holistic management of “congenital diaphragmatic hernia”, which is a typical disease in pediatric surgery, from the fetal period to the long postoperative period.
(b) Key to Conquer Pediatric Cancer – From Basic to Translational Research – (International)
For the development of new treatments for intractable pediatric malignancies, translational research rooted in solid basic research is important. Researchers in Japan and the United States will deepen discussions on how to “bridge” from basic research to new treatments.
(c) Where we are now and the future of xenotransplantation (International)
The chronic shortage of donated organs is a serious problem for pediatric organ transplantation. In recent years, great expectations have been placed on xenotransplantation to overcome this problem. Experts from Japan and abroad will talk about the current state of xenotransplantation and its future.

(a) Regenerative Medicine up to date
Regenerative medicine, which artificially creates organs and tissues, may play a major role in pediatric surgical diseases caused by congenital defects of important organ tissues and cells. We would like you to report on the current state of regenerative medicine research in children, and show us a signpost for clinical application, which is no longer a pipe dream.
(b) New Treatment Strategies for Intestinal Failure
We are recruitment for the latest treatment strategies for intestinal failure, such as selection of lipid preparations, introduction of new therapeutic agents GLP-2 analog preparations, and devising central venous catheter management.
(c) Pediatric Robot-Assisted Surgery: Getting Started
Even in the pediatric field, insurance coverage for robot-assisted surgery is progressing. In addition to the latest results of pediatric robot-assisted surgery, we will show you the hurdles that must be overcome to get started.

(a) Physician Work Styles Reform and Task Shift: Collaboration with Nurses in Pediatric Surgery
Discussions on task shifts/shares are underway in preparation for regulations on overtime work for doctors starting in April 2024. From the perspective of nurses’ specific action training and clinical nurses, we will organize the current situation, issues, and future possibilities of task shift.
(b) Issues related to child abuse
The number of child abuse consultations at child guidance centers is increasing year by year, and its prevention has become an important issue for society as a whole to address. We will deepen our understanding of child abuse issues by presenting various issues related to child abuse from people in various occupations.
(c) Child Life Interventions for children undergoing surgery and their families
In recent years, psychological benefits and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions facilitated by Certified Child Life Specialists, health care professionals who provide psychosocial care for children with health care needs and their families, have been recognized and noticed. The significance of child life interventions in the field of pediatric surgery will be presented and discussed in this session.
