Greeting

Yasuo Miyoshi
President of the 30th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Breast Cancer
Professor, Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Department of Surgery, Hyogo College of Medicine

We are happy to announce that the 30th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Breast Cancer Society will be held from June 30th to July 2nd, 2022, at the PACIFICO Yokohama North.
Its theme is “Connecting to Future Generations of Breast Cancer Treatment and Clinical Study: We All Have a Role.” To mark the 30th meeting, we have prepared programs to present to the medical staff, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, involved in breast cancer treatment, for providing them with the opportunity to ponder from their respective standpoints how to bequeath their achievements to the next generation.
What direction should we take current breast cancer treatment in? What should we do to ensure success in that direction? We are making preparations to provide the space in which to consider these issues and their future prospects in each occupation and specialized field, and from which to send our message and some helpful hints to the next-generation leaders.

Regarding the special lectures, on the first day, Professor Yasushi Okuno of Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University will expound on new drug development utilizing supercomputers. On the second day, we will invite Dr. Yusuke Nakamura of National Institutes of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition, who will give a lecture on Deep Medicine, a medical treatment using AI. Both lectures, I anticipate, will offer the latest information indicating the future direction of breast cancer treatment. The president’s plan will have the speakers, including those from overseas, talk about the current status of drug development and the global expansion of clinical trials.

Regarding the program structure, to continue from the 29th Annual Meeting led by President Imoto, the society will take the lead in planning symposiums, workshops, and Selected Oral Presentations. Also planned are poster discussions; educational, nurse, and pharmacist sessions; and patient support instructor programs as well as discussions on how to respond to work style reforms and on developing next-generation leaders.

We presently believe that we will be able to hold the meeting in 2022 on-site. It will, however, not be held in the same format as before, as we will be implementing the necessary COVID-19 countermeasures. For your information, the 30th Annual Meeting will be streamed online and available for on-demand viewing. We are determined to do our utmost to make the meeting meaningful and fruitful for all participants commemorating its 30th anniversary. We apologize and ask for your understanding in advance for any possible inconvenience due to unavoidable circumstances, including a schedule change. We sincerely look forward to your participation.
